Let’s go back in time

In December of 2022, I was sitting in that bar in NYC, talking to that dude who started talking about running. I was like “no way I can run”. He said “fuck it, just sign up”. I learned about the 9+1 for the first time. And what I noticed was that I wouldn’t be able to run the marathon in 2023, but I could use 2023 to qualify for the 2024 Marathon. And there were some really interesting things about the 2024 date:

  • First, it was 2 years away. I liked the idea of a 2 year resolution, instead of a one year resolution.
  • Nov 3 2024 was two days before the Election! Which was a very enticing idea.
  • Security Now would also get to 999 on November 5 (election day)!

I even wrote down this idea in this blog post:

I want to give some updates on my running and workouts. I am trying to run the NY Marathon in 2024, and I want to mold my body to be able to do that.
(More than 10 years ago): On the other hand, if your FPGA is capable enough, then you may be able to do more. A fat dude will have a lot of trouble completing that marathon. So will a thin dude, but it is easier for the thin dude to program his core and complete that marathon. He doesn’t need to be restricted by his body’s basic metabolic functions.
Overarching goal is NY Marathon 2024 . That will require loosing of weight and improving cardiac conditioning.

I am so proud of the work I have put in since I started. I have did 257 (in 2023) and 333 (in 2024 so far) so a total of 590 miles so far. It was a great journey. I didn’t accomplish everything on this journey, especially around weight, but I think I learned a lot. And I did see phenomenal changes like my LDL going down.

I am laser focussed on this milestone now. 2 years in the making. I am fucking psyched. Let’s get to this finish line, brother. This is it. Feet, don’t fail me now. After this, we will rest.

Mind Pump show GLP | Hacker news

Around the 15:00 min mark

Adam Schafer took GLP. Interesting. He said the main thing was that he cut out the noise.

It helped build good habits.

“I am not constantly thinking about food” this stuff helps with that.

  • You cannot be on it forever
  • It is not a replacement for muscle building
  • Goal is to get off of it
  • You need to build strength. That is the most important thing.

Hacker News

https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=41811263

I've been on tirzepatide (Mounjaro) for 4 months now. I'm down 13% of my body weight. I realized that frequent cannabis consumption interferes with the weight loss, so I've kicked the habit from daily to occasionally on weekends. I've started walking 2-3 miles a day, 2-3 days a week regularly, in addition to eating less and being more motivated to calorie count.
---
Tirzepatide and Semaglutide are both known to reduce addiction / substance ingestion. I noticed I was just less interested in Alcohol when I started on Wegovy, and didn't realize it's a common effect until much later. I retained most of my disinterest after going off, too, FWIW.
---
I'm with you on this, tirzepatide has been life changing for me. I've struggled with my weight my whole life and I can actually imagine a future where I lose enough that I'm no longer ashamed of my weight.
I've been on tirzepatide for just over a year now. Before that, I managed to lose 6% of my body weight over the previous year. With tirzepatide, I've lost an additional 17% of my body weight, for a total of 23% over two years.

Tirzepatide isn't a magic drug that just makes you lose weight, it simply makes it much easier to avoid overeating.

It makes the difference between being so hungry that I can't fall asleep and having the ability to just go to sleep.

Serhant and “You have to do it” – “NO CHOICE”

There is just NO OTHER OPTION.

You wont LOVE every single day. But you NEED TO KNOW that it contributes.

Case in point: the 20 mile run is not killing you these days. Compared to the half marathon in march. Shit compounds.

A quick check in regarding marathon

This training is fucking brutal.

Plus having a stressful job, it definitely makes it harder.

The last 4 weeks I have been averaging about 20 miles a week. That is just too much time being spent as I am slow.

I think I just need to get done with this, and then shift gears towards high efficiency weight loss and muscle building stuff. Serhantification.

20 miles. 25 miles in the week total

I did a long of 20 miles today. It was brutal and miserable. But, it gave me some confidence that I can at least finish the marathon.

At this point, I can’t want to get done with this marathon and get on with my life. A 2 year long journey. Fuck.

I kept the first half marathon pretty low key. But then, oh man, my legs came alive at mile 15. I was basically dead by mile 18 though. So I need to manage this a bit better.

It was a nice race. Tough though. But nice.

Hunger workout

You gotta workout your hunger system just like you workout the muscles. Meaning, just like muscles need to get sore in order to increase in side; you need to feel hunger to loose weight.

No soreness in muscles keeps them at the same size.

No feeling of hunger keeps it at the same size.
