BP update: Calmness | Sober update: Calmness

Okay, BP is responding to the Blood Pressure Lifestyle

I am around 125/77. Thats is pretty awesome. About 10 point reduction. The beets seem to be having the biggest impact.

Alcohol abstainment is also going fine. I think the body has now gotten used to it. Probably will help the BP too.

I hate the idea of eating too much food.

I hate the idea of going to bars.

I feel mentally calm too.

The BP boost

This blood pressure thing is coming up, isnt it? Don’t worry about it. Just change your diet and continue your running and you will be fine. I know you feel hurt, angry and frustrated. It is frustrating indeed. I understand brother, better than you think. You are thinking about the future — is this the beginning of health problems that will plague you forever. And you are lamenting about the past — nothing you have tried has worked so why would this work now?

That’s just the game we are playing on this stage. You can prepare for the future and learn from the past. But in that process, don’t mess up the present. You are not the same person you were 2 years ago, or 5 years ago. I know it may seem like that but you are not. A lot of things look the same but they are different. And neither will you remain static as you march towards the future.

Just look at the fact that you ran a half marathon across New York City! Tell that to yourself from 2 years ago! You tried tried running so many times in the past, but it never stuck. And look at you now.

So yea – I am optimistic that things will be different now. You are a good guy, never doubt that. You are trying your best. And I have faith that it will come through.

BP intervention

I am going to do a 2 week intense intervention for weight, BP and fasting blood sugar. If I see good results, then great. Otherwise, I will invoke a Dr. and then take it from there.

  1. Salad most meals. Fruits and veggies maximization.
  2. Take the main supplements (potassium, mg, fish oil, beet)
  3. Sleep and meditation
  4. My normal running schedule.

April 14 today. We will do this until April 28.

If no improvements on April 28, then fuck it, we will go to the next tier: Talk to a Dr. and then get on medication.

The diastolic blood pressure

Just so annoying. All of this is. Maybe this cannot be independently managed.

I am going to spend some time aggressively trying to lower it via life style changes. Food is the critical part.

Blood Pressure 2: Some notes

Angiotensin II

  • This thing is a hormone that regulates BP and fluid balance. it is part of the renin-angiotensin system. This controls the volume of fluids in the body.
  • This also has an impact on fat burning, insulin resistance, etc.

How to lower Angiotensin II?

  • Reduce sodium: It reduces fluids and this reduces the activation of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS)
  • Increase potassium: Helps balance the sodium
  • Diet rich in fruits, veggies and whole grains. Low fat. Reduces the need for angiotensin II
  • Regular exercise.

Blood Pressure Medication types

  • Angiotensin II Receptor Blockers:
    • Block the action of Angiotensin II. This will widen the blood vessels. But the Angiotensin doesnt actually go away, right?
    • olmesartan
  • Antiotensin Converting Enzymes (ACE) Inhibitors:
    • They prevent the formation of angiotensin II.
    • lisinopril
    • Potassium , fish oil and garlic act like ace inhibitors
  • Beta blocker:
    • Reduces the heart rate, decreases the workload.
    • propranolol
    • magnesium
  • Calcium Channel Blockers (CCB):
    • Prevent calcium from entering the blood vessels. This relaxes them
    • amlodipine
    • magnesium, hawthorn
  • Diuretics
    • Flush out the sodium
    • hibiscus tea,
  • Alpha blockers
  • Alpha 2 Receptor Agnonists
  • Renin Inhibitors
  • Vasodilators
    • Alcohol
    • minoxidil, hydralazine

Blood pressure

I am so mad. I am annoyed. My BP remains at about 130/80 but I did a stress test and it tested high – at about 140 / 100. And then I did a stress test, during which it went to 213/109. It quickly came down to 190/80.

The doctor has prescribed Olmesartan Medoxomil 20mg. This is a Angiotensin 2 receptor blocker. I need to understand the side effects of this truely.

Left Ventricle issue possibly too?

Lifestyle

  • Intermittent fasting for 18/6
  • Lowering the weight
  • How you talk to yourself?
  • No alcohol
  • Improving the diet (low sodium)
  • More sleep
  • Regular tracking
  • Beet juice, garlic and magnesium
  • Whole vegetables and fruits.
  • Magnesium Glycinate, Garlic Tablets, Hibiscus tea, Low sodium

coconut water everyday(helps said), outside food only once a week, 10-15k steps everyday, intermittent fasting, reducing sodium intake and increasing potassium intake(bananas mostly) , meditation and including fruits and veggies.
